The 2011 HBCU Women's Wellness Alliance Technical Assistance & Capacity Building Conference (HWWA) provided unparalleled access and interaction between HBCU Student Health Directors/Wellness Staffs, community-based organizations, federal health agency representatives and health and media professionals.

This three-day event featured interactive workshops and panels on planning/design, implementing, budgeting, evaluation and mobilizing inter-campus and community collaborations toward effective women-centered wellness programming among college-attending emerging adult populations of color. 

This year, conference participants toured the Herbert Student Wellness Center at the University of Miami highlighted by a welcoming address and luncheon by UM President and Former Secretary of Health and Human Services, Dr. Donna Shalala.

Finally, the HBCU Showcases provided a platform to disseminate learned lessons and featured illustrations of effective wellness strategies at HBCUs emphasizing data collection and analyses, collaboration and partnership, and outstanding program design and implementation.
